Tokyo = East + Kyoto
東京都 ＝ 東 ＋ 京都
東京都 = Tokyo
東 = East
京都 = Kyoto

I just knew from my Sensei about relationship of name between Kyoto and Tokyo.As you might know that before Tokyo time, Kyoto was capital of Japan. When someone planned to move to Kyoto then they just called Tokyo as East Kyoto. I'm not sure this is exactly 100% correct or not. But I think it's interesting though.... :P
