Dome City.....Aqua City

I drafted out this blog since end of Sep, it's time to continue!

6 November 2004

Went to Dome City with Kento...P'Wat didnt want to join coz he want some rest and roller coaster thing is not his type :P Met Kento at SJK station and took Chuo line to Suidobashi station. Walked couple blocks, here we are..Dome City! My first impression with this theme park was roller coaster ride throgh the center-less Ferris Wheel...it's so cool! Roller coaster name is "Thunder Dolphin". And my instinct was correct! This roller coaster is awesome especially in the first drop!! It also moves along the building...I never seen this kind of coaster before. But the time on the ride is so short for me..It should be a bit longer

We bought 1-day pass ticket with discount coupon from Honjo-san :) We tried most of the attraction that available except "the 13 doors". Honestly, I dont like haunted house at all so I dont want to step in. Kento asked me several times to enter but I know that he also scare of haunted house too..so if we go together I'm not quite sure who will be in the front row :P Hehe

Then we went to Yasukuni Jinja for sightseeing...this place is very quiet and peaceful. Yasukuni Jinja is Shinto Shrine dedicated to spirit of soldiers from World War II. As we might familiar from news about protest from China and Korea when Jap PM visits this shrine which we are not going to talk about. We also went to Museum unfortunately, we reached there 20 minutes before closed so we couldnt go inside just walk around in the lobby area.

Then we got lost to Kitanomaru Park. We followed the crowd because we thought they walked to subway station or sth that we can get out from here. Actually they went to Budokan for someone concert. I asked Kawakami-san the day after, he told me that "someone" is quite popular like 10 or 15 years ago. No wonder why not much teenagers come to this concert. Finally, we walked around Budokan and find the way out...

17 Miles Drive and Carmel-by-the-sea

Dec

Decided a week ago to go to Carmel-by-the-sea this weekend. Last time I went to Monterey but have not enough time to visit also enough time to visit Pebbles beach and 17 miles drive too. Member of this trip has only P'Kwang and I. Most of my gang already went back to Thailand "Home Sweet Home" while the rest, they went for snowboarding and skiing. My first impression with snowboarding was not that good so I decided not to join :P

We left SVL around 10:30, reach Monterey around Noon. Grabbed a cup of coffee, walked along Canery Row. Nothing much to see.

Then we head to 17 miles drive, have to pay 9 USD per car as a fee. I just wonder how much the company get from daily visitor. There are a lot of pretty houses all the way along the route. Actually Mansion might be appropriated word to describe. The view along the coast was fantastic. It might be a lot better if it was sunny day, not cloudy. The weather was damn cold and windy but I like it :) I like the sea, wind,wave...everything.

We spent like 2 and a half hours at 17 miles drive. It's time to go to Carmel-by-the-sea, I prefer to visit their and leave before sunset. I hate to drive in unfamiliar route during night time. I fall in love with this city like love at first sight. It's hard to explain how I feel. But all I know, everybody who visit this city might feel the same way like I do. This city has very pretty house, cool display shops. Hmmm like a city of artist. A lot of galleries, some candle shops, small bakery, cute restaurant...oh...i really fall in love with Carmel :)

Chicago "Windy City"

Just come back from my thanksgiving trip yesterday, took one day off on Monday. I went to Chicago. Dont ask me the reason why I chose Chicago instead of New York or other place...I dont know.
I have no idea about places to visit during the trip. Totally clueless. All I know is Sears Tower (ex-highest building in the world)...Nothing else. Even after I came back, I still know just a few places to visit. Hehe
First when we reached there, talked to Thai ppl there. They said nothing much to travel in Chicago, mostly are Museums. After stay there for 4 days, I realized that Chicago has A LOT of museums and educational places like Aquarium and Planetarium. And nothing much for sight seeing...

My impression with this windy city was buildings in downtown area also houses in suburb area...a lot of contradiction between these two.

We started our sightseeing on Friday afternoon, unbeliveable I woke up at noon!!! We took a bus to downtown area, it's same thing everywhere in the world, finding parking space in downtown is very difficult and expensive...It took us like 10 minutes to reach.

First place to visit is Millenium park, good park to stroll on nice weather day, like the day we visited..Then we walked thru Michigan Lake. No any water activity for tourist except sailing because it's too cold for any kind of water activity in this season. We also walked to see Buckingham Fountain. Again, because of winter, it become dried foundtain...so we just took a photo of "Dry fountain". Walked back to Sears tower to see view from the top of tallest builing in Chicago. If we lucky enough we could see sunset from the skydeck. BUT, we were not lucky enough, the queue to go up was really long. It took us like one and a half hour to wait. Once we up there, the sun already set! How poor we are! We went to Thai restaurant for dinner. The taste was good..better than what I ever had in SVL..

The third day of this trip, we went to John G. Shedd Aquarium & Oceanarium , another popular place for tourist. It also took us 2 hours to wait before enter the aquarium. The aquarium, itself, is nice. It has a lot of kinds of fishes, some of them are from Thailand, actually from all over the world. There are Piranya, Anaconda too. My favourite one is Beluga, there are mother and kid Beluga. They stick to each other, very cute :)

After spend whole afternoon in the aquarium, we decided to walk to shopping avenue called "N.Michigan Ave". Looked from the map, it's not far at all. BUT it took us like an hour to reach.. A lot of luxury, brand name strores are located at this road. We just hopped from this shop to that shop and buy nothing :P Too expensive to buy..only 40USD per dium cant afford anything. Better wait for SALE season only..hehe Tonight dinner was Jap food, with a lot of Maki stuffs...free meal, owner of restaurant treated :P

Forth day: I made a phone call to meet my cousin at China Town. We had dim-sum as a bruch and went to visit her cutie house at Woodridge City (suburb of chicago, around 30 mins drive). Her house is very cute and peaceful..But I dont think I can live there...too quiet for me.. We went tp shopping mall at Downers Grove City for some sale stuffs after thanksgiving but got nothing again :P After had dinner at Chinese Buffet restaurant (yummy!), she drove us back home with a bit of lost in direction..finally, we reached home!

Last day: Yeah!! I will go back to meet my lovely friends in SVL :P

We went to buy some souveniurs at Water tower place, located on N.Michigan Ave. This time we went there just only 2 of us, took the bus in the big city..Luckily that we didnt get lost otherwise we might miss our flight. I got couple of postcards and magnet send postcard back to Thailand then head home. Our flight time is 3:45 PM, we decided to leave home early since we afraid it might take long time for security check. I was really sleepy so I slept for whole 4 hours flight..good? hehe...Note and P'Kwang came to pick us at San Jose Airport then head to Queen Noodles for dinner ...yummy ;)

... The End ...

P.S. I missed a chance to visit tourist attraction place like Field Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo :(

SF @ Night

Last night, I just left every pending jobs behind and decided to go to SF with P'Yot, P'Yam and Note. The craziest thing is I am the driver.... It is crazy bcoz I never been to SF before (except for Castro one which I slept all the way to SF :P) Also I'm not a good driver at night, my lousy eyes cant read and see sharply during night time..

Driving in SF is very difficult..l dont think i can come here alone for sure..if i dont have Note and P'Yam as navigator, we may not reach market street...

Ghirardeli Chocolate and Ice-cream..yumm yumm

Happy Halloween

Last night I went to Castro Street in San Francisco for the biggest halloween night. Police closed a lot of street for this fest. We had to park our car near Twin Peaks before take a metro to Castro station. After got out of the ground. I was shocked and fascinating in the same time...a lot of ppl on the street dressed up...actually a lot of ppl is not suitable. I have to say very very very crowded...Ppl here, they have a lot of ideas to dressed up for halloween..like superman, wonder woman...a lot of fairies, Captain Jack Sparllow, Legolas, Aragon, Milk Box, some wears strange clothes...some of them almost naked..unbeliveable becoz the temperature is almost 10C...I dont know how he can stand that...but i had a great time last night even we had to walk very long long road to catch the metro back though...
